Summer 2021 FAQS

Why isn’t Onondaga Camp closed for everyone this summer/why are Inter, Senior and Super Senior campers and LITs the only ones who are eligible to attend?

At this time, we feel that operating at a reduced capacity and for a single 4-week session is our safest option for both staff, LITs and campers. The health and safety of our staff, LITs and campers remains our first priority. With Ontario’s current COVID-19 numbers such as they are, our move to cancel July programming and offer an August only program was done in order to leave more time between now and the start of camp – for COVID-19 cases to decrease, for more people to be vaccinated (possibly even campers, LITs and staff), and for guidance from the provincial government on the reopening of camps. Our hope is that decreased numbers and limited movement in and out of camp will reduce COVID-19 transmission risks, enabling us to open and stay open.

Within these parameters, we feel it is important to prioritize the oldest campers and the LITs in order to carry forth our camp culture and the continuity of our tradition of creating staff from within our program. These decisions have not been made lightly and we are heartbroken not to be able to welcome campers of all ages.

Who is eligible for the new 2021 August Program?

Inter, Senior and Super Senior campers (born in 2006, 2007 & 2008) and Leadership Program Participants (born in 2004 & 2005), who were registered for the 2021 Season, are eligible to register for the 2021 August Program.

Is it safe to be operating?

Please be assured that we would not choose to operate if we felt that it would be unsafe for our staff, campers or LITs. We continue to consult with medical experts and work with Public Health to finalize our plan to welcome staff, LITs and campers safely. A full Covid-19 Safety Plan, based on recommendations from the Ontario Camps Association and approved by Public Health, will be available before our program starts.

What safety measures will Onondaga Camp have in place to help minimize the spread of COVID-19 in its camp community?

While we are still awaiting guidance from the government on whether or not camps will be able to operate this summer, we understand that certain protocols and policies will be in place to ensure a safe program for all. To help minimize the spread of COVID-19 in our camp community, Onondaga Camp plans to do the following:

Will I get a refund if my camper/LIT is unable or not eligible to attend the 2021 August program?

Yes, Onondaga Camp will be refunding families 100% of all fees paid, including the non-refundable administration fee should you choose not to register.

When will I get my refund/how long will it take?

Refunds will be processed as quickly as possible and may take up to two weeks. Once processed, refunds can take up to 4 days to appear on a credit card statement.

How will I get my refund (cheque vs. credit card)?

Payments made by credit card will be refunded by credit card. Payments made by e-transfer, cheque, bank payment or wire transfer will be refunded by cheque.

Can my fees be applied to next year?

Yes, you are welcome to transfer payments for the 2021 season towards 2022.

Can my fees be applied to a sibling who will be attending in August of 2021?

Yes, we would be happy to transfer any payments that were made for a sibling to your 2021 account.

When will registration open for the 2021 August Program (for eligible campers and LITs; born in 2008 or earlier)?

Registration for the August Program, for campers who were already registered, will open on May 18, 2021.

When will registration open for 2022?

Registration will open in the Fall of 2021. Please note: Campers who will be eligible for the first year of our leadership program are not guaranteed.

Will my camper be guaranteed a spot for the 2022 Season?

Campers who were registered for the Summer of 2021 will have a prioritized registration period. More information will be available in the Fall.
